“The LORD is my shepherd. I shall not want.Psalm 23:1

One of the duties of a shepherd is to lead the sheep, sometimes to different pastures. As we follow Jesus Christ, The Good Shepherd, we should expect changes. Not all of those changes, however, are experiences we would like to go through. Yet, if we keep our eyes upon Jesus Christ, knowing that He is there with us all the way, we will often find ourselves stronger in faith, closer to our Lord, and many times experiencing new blessings we wouldn’t have imagined.

One such experience was when my husband lost his job. Shortly thereafter, we lost our home and car. We packed up what little we could in the truck and made our trek across country to family that lived in the Southwest, losing more things along the way during the rough travel conditions. God lead us back to the Southwest so that we could be there for family members who would soon become ill. Eventually, we found work and were called to minister in unexpected ways in various local churches through music, youth groups, helping veterans, outreach to the biker community, Celtic festivals and other ways.

By His leading, God often lets us know that He is there. A good shepherd doesn’t leave his flock alone and God promises to never leave nor forsake us (Heb 13:5). Through the unexpected move, I have learned to keep my eyes upon Jesus Christ, my guide; my shepherd.
