Hello Sunshine! #Health

Summertime fun is found in a multitude of outdoor activities. It is a time to play outside, soak up some sun and ramp up our body’s vitamin D production. So say, hello sunshine, get out there and swim, hike, bike, boat or surf, but beware, there is a dark side of the sun as well. Too much of any good thing can be a bad thing! Too much sun can cause premature aging – think wrinkles, or worse, skin cancer.

Most women know that taking in a little extra sun can take a toll on their skin and especially the skin on their face. Regular use of moisturizers and sun-screens help, but to keep my face looking healthy and youthful, I like to treat myself weekly to a natural homemade facial.

God is in the business of supplying all of our needs. It is a known fact that much of our modern medicines and medical practices have come from God’s word and His creation. In short, His prize creation (mankind) was made to work in harmony with, and benefit from, the things He created (nature). I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the Old Testament spas, like those described in the book of Esther, used a similar method and ingredients!

For this all natural facial you will only need five ingredients:

  • ½ tsp of olive oil
  • 4-6 thin slices of russet or sweet potato
  • 1 Tbsp. of raw oatmeal
  • 1 egg white
  • 1/2 tsp of coconut oil.
  1. Cleanse your face and neck from any sunscreen, makeup or sweat
    with warm water.
  2. Gently rub in a few drops of olive oil on your forehead, cheeks, nose,
    chin, and neck.

When the oil is evenly dispersed all over these areas, proceed to the next step – the potato slices:

  1. Stimulate your skin and deep clean your pores by gently scrubbing
your face and neck with the slices of potatoes in a circular motion for
about 3 minutes and then rinse well with warm water.

This last step can be a bit messy at first, so do it over the sink with a towel over your chest area.

  1. Add the raw oatmeal to the egg white and stir quickly. Once the two
items are well blended together, apply them over your face and neck
    areas.
  2. Sit down and relax for 15-30 minutes until the egg and oatmeal
mixture is dried completely. You should be able to feel your facial –
    skin tightening.
  3. Using a warm washcloth, remove the oatmeal and egg mixture. Once
the egg and oatmeal are removed, finish with a cool or cold rinse.
  4. Lastly, add an application of coconut oil over your entire face and neck.

The end result is smaller pores, tight skin, total facial refreshment and an amazing Godly glow.

It is so satisfying to achieve spa-like results without spa-like prices in the comfort of your own home!

I find it fascinating that the Creator of the Universe who is madly in love with His creation has given us everything we need – even the ingredients to better reflect His beauty!
