Do you have love like that in your life? Do you love someone like that? How about your enemies?

It is easy to love someone who loves you. As children of God, we are called to go beyond what may come naturally to us. Love is a daily choice, an action. Jesus is the perfect example for us. He died for us while we were sinners, while we held animosity toward God. Jesus Christ provided a way of reconciliation with God the Father because of His love for us. We love God because He first loved us (1 John 4:19). As children of God we are to follow Jesus’ example.

“But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” ~Matt 5:44-45

“But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back. But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.” ~Luke 6:32-36

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” ~John 15:13
